A Dive Shop Built Around Local Diving
Extreme Watersport is a scuba diving centre located in Capel Sound on the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne, built around real-world diving, continuing scuba education and active local diving culture.
With more than 15 years in the diving industry, Extreme Watersport has grown into a well-known Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula dive shop supporting beginner divers, experienced recreational divers and technical divers across Victoria.
From beginner scuba diving courses and refresher programs to scuba equipment servicing, cylinder hydro testing, scuba gas fills and technical diving support, our focus has always been on helping divers become comfortable, capable and confident in the water.
We are not built around fast tourist certifications or quick holiday scuba experiences. Melbourne scuba diving conditions can be cold, dynamic and challenging at times, and we believe proper scuba training should prepare divers for real diving conditions rather than ideal tropical conditions only.
Many divers first discover scuba diving through beginner training with Extreme Watersport and continue progressing over time through Advanced scuba training, Rescue Diver courses, Nitrox, Sidemount, technical diving pathways and local dive club activities around the Mornington Peninsula.
Our dive shop is located close to many of Melbourne’s best shore diving sites including Rye Pier, Blairgowrie Pier and Portsea Pier, making Extreme Watersport a convenient base for scuba diving courses, guided dives, refresher diving and continuing diver development.

Training Philosophy
Certification Is Earned, Not Bought
Extreme Watersport is an SDI 5 Star Instructor Development Center and TDI technical diving facility located on the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne, focused on real-world scuba diving education and long-term diver development.
Our dive centre includes a full-time SDI Instructor Trainer (IT), supporting both recreational scuba diver training and professional-level instructor development pathways.
Our scuba diving courses focus heavily on buoyancy control, situational awareness, underwater confidence and real-world scuba diving ability rather than fast certification alone.
We believe scuba certification should represent actual capability underwater, not simply course completion or minimum performance during a training weekend.
Melbourne scuba diving conditions can vary significantly depending on visibility, temperature, surge and weather conditions. Because of this, we believe proper scuba training should prepare divers for real diving environments rather than ideal tropical holiday conditions only.
Through SDI recreational scuba training and TDI technical diving pathways, many divers continue progressing with Extreme Watersport through Advanced scuba training, Rescue Diver, Nitrox, Sidemount, decompression procedures, trimix diving and long-term technical diving development.
Our goal is to help divers become calm, capable and confident underwater while building strong foundational scuba skills that continue well beyond initial certification.
