Trimix and CCR
Five OC and five CC gases with OC Tec and fixed-setpoint CC/BO modes.
Shearwater
Full technical capability does not always need a full-size computer. The Shearwater Teric suits experienced recreational, open-circuit technical and fixed-setpoint CCR divers who want one smaller instrument for everyday wear, travel, freediving and demanding dive plans. Its 1.39-inch AMOLED display uses a 400 x 400 layout behind a sapphire window, producing crisp colour information without the footprint of a large wrist computer.
Teric supports Air, Nitrox, five-gas Nitrox, open-circuit Trimix, fixed-setpoint closed-circuit with bailout, Gauge and Freediving modes. Bühlmann ZHL-16C with adjustable gradient factors underpins decompression calculations, while five open-circuit and five closed-circuit gas entries provide room for properly planned technical profiles. This is not simply a recreational watch with extra menus. Its mode set belongs with divers who already understand gas planning, decompression obligations and bailout strategy.
When several cylinders and tasks are in play, keeping pressure and navigation on the main instrument can reduce unnecessary checking. Optional air integration supports up to four compatible transmitters, and the three-axis digital compass adds tilt-compensated navigation. Audible and vibration alerts can be configured to suit the dive and the environment. A transmitter is not included, allowing the pressure-monitoring setup to be built around the cylinders and procedures the diver actually uses.
The internal rechargeable battery is rated for up to 30 hours of diving or 50 hours in watch mode and charges wirelessly. It is factory replaceable rather than user serviceable. Bluetooth handles log transfer and firmware updates through Dive Shearwater. The sapphire face improves scratch resistance, although it should still be protected from sharp impact like any precision instrument.
Teric is often the better choice when full Trimix and CCR capability must fit into a compact, refined format and rechargeable ownership is acceptable. Perdix 3 is the better tool when a larger screen, deeper rating and field-replaceable AA battery take priority. Tern TX and Peregrine TX cover air-integrated recreational and advanced-Nitrox diving at lower cost when the technical modes would remain unused.
